SOPP 2015 in Baguio City

When everything was in place and just before the guests arrive, we still had time to take some pictures at Villa Romana, the venue for the SOPP this year. It is a wonderful place located at 307 Tiptop Ambuklao road. Here's Genie Kupang, one of the core group members in the Mandala Peace Arts Initiative (MPAI), with some of her friends in Baguio City.

Here's Gabby Medina, also one of the core group of MPAI and a resident artist, holding his artwork that was used in the SOPP. He's also the official photographer.

Here's Ate Babes of MPAI in red with Villa Romana Resident Manager and Tinatik artist Ms. Maela Liwanag Jose in white.

At last, guests from different groups and religions started arriving at Villa Romana for the SOPP.

A few more shots before the SOPP or Symphony of Peace Prayers in Baguio City. The streamer that was used was painted by MPAI resident artist and photographer Gabby Medina using textile paint on "katya" canvass. Katya is a thin canvass commonly used as bags for rice or flour. The text in the streamer is "the Fuji Declaration: Igniting the Divine Spark for a Thriving World." There are 5 statements under the Fuji Declaration for all of us who are responsible for the future of life on Earth and they're the following: We affirm the light of consciousness within all beings, we commit to creating lasting peace on Earth, we intend to live and act on behalf of all life, we free the human spirit for deep creativity and we commit to the mission to advance a harmonious human civilization.

Here's Genevieve Balance-Kupang welcoming the participants from Baguio City - BIG, BAG, CVJPIP and more. She also introduced her fellow MPAI members from Manila and friends who volunteered to help out.

Welcoming remarks was given by the owner-proprietress of Villa Roman, Ms. Maela Jose-Liwanag.

Gil Reoma of BIG, Orland de Guzman of MPAI and Roy Kamura also shared a few words.

Later on, we enjoyed a harmony of sacred sounds from Tibetan singing bowl, horns, bells, flute, drums, gansa, kulintang and other bamboo instruments.

We see here Ate Bhabes, Sonny and Maela offering fruits in front of the Peace Pole.

Afterwards, Orland de Guzman led us in the Ocean Breathing and Jinrui Soku Kami Nari Divinity In.

Before the World Peace Prayer Ceremony with Interfaith Prayers and Meditation, we first addressed the four directions of the Earth: We are one.

People from different groups and religions prayed for a world free from conflict, for countries in the African Continent, for countries in the European Continent, for countries in the Americas, for countries in Australia and Oceania and for countries in Asia. These people are Muslim, Buddhists, Hare Krishna, Brahma Kumaris, Bahai Faith, Christians, Catholics and more but we are all united for Peace. Indeed, religions may divide us but spirituality unites us all and this we believe is a very spiritual event and may this event or any similar event continue so that Peace may truly prevail on Earth.

Gil Reoma of BIG was able to invite a Japanese to our SOPP and we asked him what's the message in Japanese that's written on the Peace pole. He described every Japanese word and the whole sentence's still the same with the other messages on the three other sides and that's "May Peace Prevail On Earth".

Rosario Lagadia or Ate Rio of MPAI initiated the reading and signing of the Fuji Declaration.

We also prayed for peace & harmony for countries with border disputes and for harmony between Humanity and Nature. We also prayed against human trafficking, sexual slavery, drug victimization, religious extremism and violence. One of these prayers was led by a little girl in Igorot attire.

The SOPP ended in celebration with dancing, singing and lighting of incense in front of the Peace pole. We hope that many more people will join us next year! May Peace Prevail On Earth!
